Pick 3 draws take place at 1:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. every day. A random number generator produces three winning digits between 0 and 9 in a strictly controlled and secure draw environment. You need to make sure you have purchased your tickets before the cut-off time.
It's really easy to play, but there are a few steps to filling out a playslip. Unlike most other lotteries, you can decide how you want to play and even how much you want to wager. Here’s a full player guide:
Select three numbers from 0 to 9. You can get a Quick Pick if you want a random selection, or choose your own by marking one number from each of the three columns on your playslip.
There are five bet types to choose from - Exact Order, Any Order, Exact/Any, Front Pair or Back Pair. This helps to determine how much you can win.
Specify whether you want to wager $0.50, $1, $2 or $5. The bigger your stake, the more you can win. If you play Exact/Any, the minimum wager is $1.
Select your draw time – Midday, Evening or both. You can play in as many as 28 consecutive drawings, or 56 if you want to enter both.
Once you have completed all your selections, you just need to purchase your ticket. The total cost is calculated by multiplying your wager amount by the number of draws you have entered. You can then wait for the draw to take place and check the results to see if you have won.
When you play Pick 3, you can decide to try and match the winning numbers exactly or in any order, or even play a pair. Here’s more about each of the five bet types:
An Exact Order wager has the highest potential return, but to win you must have selected the same numbers – in the same positions – as the numbers that are drawn.
You win a wager of this kind if all three of your numbers are drawn, regardless of the order. You win a larger prize if you have two of the same number, for example 112, rather than three different numbers such as 123.
This type of bet combines both of the other options – half the wager goes on an Exact Order play and half on Any Order. You win both parts if you match the numbers exactly, or just the Any Order prize if your numbers appear in a different combination.
If you select the Front Pair option, you only need to select a number from each of the first two columns on your playslip, as the aim is to predict the first two winning digits in the exact order.
A Back Pair play is a prediction on the last two winning numbers, so you can leave the first column blank on your playslip. For example, if you play the numbers X23 and the numbers drawn are X23, you win the associated prize, but you do not win if the numbers drawn are anything else, such as X32 or 213.
To win a prize, you must match all the numbers you have selected according to the conditions of your bet type. The amount you can win depends on which bet type you have selected, and how much you have wagered. Go to the Payouts page to see all the available prizes.
