If you want to win the largest possible prize, you need to wager $5 and match all three winning numbers in the exact order they are drawn. This would give you a payout of $2,500.
The prize amounts are all proportional to the odds of winning, so the combination of numbers you pick is also a factor. For example, if you play Any Order and select two of the same number (for example 112), you can win a larger sum than if you pick three different numbers (e.g. 123). This is because there are only three ways for those numbers to be ordered (112, 121, 211) compared to six (123, 132, 213, 231, 312, 321). As the odds of winning aren’t so good, the prize is higher.

The prize fund for Pick 3 is the equivalent to 50.29 percent of the revenue generated by ticket sales. To ensure that the Colorado Lottery always has sufficient funds to pay every winner their advertised prize, sales may be limited for certain number combinations.
This liability limit is reached when a number combination has been sold 1,000 times. At this point, sales will be suspended for that particular number. For example, once the number 567 has been sold 1,000 times, no additional wagers will be allowed for 567 in the Exact Order or Exact + Any Order betting options.
If you win a prize of $599, you should be able to claim it from your local lottery retailer. Alternatively, mail in your winning ticket to Colorado Lottery, PO Box 7, Pueblo, CO 81002. For larger amounts, you can still mail in your ticket, or you can visit a claim center in person. It may take up to two weeks for claims to be processed and checks to be mailed out to you.
